New Buffalo Area Schools district is observing Constitution Day for the 2023-2024 school year with teachers in all subject areas! Art students in grades 6-12 reflected on what the Constitution means to them and collaborated on an art installation that expresses their thoughts and ideas through tiny works of art from everyday life that unite us all together.
We brainstormed how the Constitution influences their daily lives in small groups before sharing our thoughts with the class. After reflecting, students were given the opportunity to think creatively and express their ideas visually through Post-It artwork.
My middle school artists were excited to collaborate on the art challenge with the high school students. These mini works of art demonstrate one-of-a-kind creativity!
This art installation was displayed in the hallway to share with the students and staff for the Constitution Day activities. I noticed students pointing out which post-it notes they created to their friends while on display! The Post It Pop Up challenge was a great way to get students engaged with critical thinking and imagination.
